I arrived at Bridge of Orchy at 9pm
Beinn an Dothaidh and Beinn Dorain at dusk
I would walk up the bealach the next morning and walk the mountains in turn
Leaving my tent the next morning at 6am
I had pitched my tent close to a burn - plenty of water and plenty of midges!
Bridge of Orchy in the glen - a hamlet really, with a railway station and a hotel
Bein an Dothaidh seen on the ascent of Beinn Dorain
A sheep admiring the views
Halfway up
Càrn Sasunnaich (the Englishman's Cairn) with its large cairn
The real summit is in the distance
Real summit of Beinn Dòrain
Clouds were forming, drifting by and sometimes briefly obscuring the view
Ridge between real summit and lower top with the large cairn
Loch Lyon and the corbett Meall Tionail in the middle
Seen from Beinn Dorain
A long stretch of the path up grassy Beinn an Dothaidh was quite boggy
Summit cairn at 1004 metre
The sheep's blue stains harmonize with the distant blue mountains
Seen on my way to point 1000m
Losing their coats but no shearing
Loch Tulla and the Black Mount beyond
Zooming in on my holiday destination of a few years ago
White quartz on some boulders
Beinn Dorain in the distance
On the way down: a moraine and a gash in the mountain
A muddy path
Cleaned once per decade
Back at the station around 4pm. The next train would be around 9pm so I took the bus, which was 40 mins late!
Hitchhiking from Fort William I didn't manage to get further than Laggan, not far from Loch Lochy. I camped along a landrover track. 6:45am, just before I decamped
