Loch a' Bhraoin
Stillness, no wind, inward-going atmosphere
Meall an t-Sithe
After following the landrover track for 3 km along the shores of the loch I walked up the pathless terrain towards Creag Rainich. Looking back I saw the landscape in soft golden light.
Lochan near the first summit
The wind had picked up, giving me quite a wind chill
Meall Dubh, 748m
I found a good spot for lunch, sheltered by some rocks, before the final leg to Creag Rainich. Where is the view?
Creag Rainich only 800m away, lost in fog
Cloud layer at 700m so walking up Creag Rainich seemed less exciting - I decided to leave the mountain of another time.
When I walked down again the view and the colours returned
Cloud layer at 700m, hiding the summits of the Fannichs on the right and the Beinn Dearg group further back
Meall an t-Sithe 601m opposite the loch
Even a small mountain can give this feeling of immovable groundedness
